BlueAlpha14's News

When you come back from a 2 week break, you soon learn 2 days off school isn't enought to get anything you want done.

So, luckily yesterday I was given this back-up tablet to replace the broken one. I'm not sure if it's permanently going to be mine, but I still appreciated the offer.

Anyways, music updates. Well, I didn't work on Dinosaurs all weekend, and literally I could have the song done by today if I just slightly variate the drop and use the same intro. However, I don't want to do that because then it would probably be uninteresting. So I'm trying to find a way to variate the second intro, and then I can easily just slightly variate the drop. It's not perfect, but hey, at least if I totally screw up on the rest of this track people are saying I've improved a lot so that's the only thing I'm striving for at this point.

In the meantime, I've been trying to fix my block on that (because I've also been told I should never work too much on just one track):

5655099_148389771972_Screenshot265.png

It's a remix, which you would know by the top left corner, but which artist is it? That's something you'll have to find out unless you can figure it out. Hopefully I can actually get this remix done in a short amount of time. I might release a preview and see what everyone thinks. I think this is a track I can upload here. The artist isn't represented by a major record label and has specifically given rights for remixes. I can even post a link to the original video where it says I can do so. The original song is Future Bass, and I'm changing it to dubstep. It may still have a bit of a Future Bass feel though, or maybe not. Future Bass is really synth specific. Either way, I may actually be able to push myself to finish this song. This may not be as good though as an original composition, but it is my first remix so I'm trying ok-

I really don't think I have anything else to talk about. After I finish Dinosuars and this track I already have a couple tracks I could be working on next. If I get these two done this month I'll already be completing 2 of the tracks that were on my goals for this year.

First week back to school and it was awful. I've been working really hard to try and get caught up with one of my tech classes because I am really far behind in terms of the semester project being due on the 26th. Then for a couple days I was convinced my really expensive glasses were stolen, until they were on my teacher's desk all along. Not to mention today I actually lost my favorite pair of sunglasses at a restaurant. I lost this rough draft to a super important project in my other tech class, so now I'll have to blindly redo it during the weekend. Then I had such a bad anxiety attack during math I had to literally hide out in the bathroom for a couple minutes to calm down from it. The only easy day I've had was Tuesday (I had Monday off). Oh yeah, and my tablet charging port is broken.

So yeah, pretty much when I get home any will to do something is completely shot. So I haven't even worked on enough music to show any WIP's. Mostly just messing around with intros and stuff. I did go through my preset library and found some more cool stuff to use, and I did make a synth/kinda bass instrument in Massive. That's really about it. I'm in the process of scouting 2 people, I've spent a lot of time going through the unscouted portal and reporting stolen stuff to the AP cleanup thread, and I've gone up another stat rank. So I do have that going on for me.

Dinosuars should be out soon. One kinda major glitch, though. i swear something always happens when I work on a project too long. People want me to up the volume of the drums. Well, the sound at 0:55 apparently went horribly glitched and it doesn't sound like it does in the preview at all when I went back to the project file. So, I had to extract that part from the MP3 file. So, now the drums are in that spliced section (I do not have the software to extract drums from a sample, nor the knowledge). I guess what I could do is just layer the drums to make them louder as well as up the volume on the existing drums not in the sample.

I guess so this news post has meaning to it, I am releasing an unfinished track tomorrow. It was made 2 months ago and the project kept crashing for me to finish it. I stopped working on it around the time I started working on .:This is the End:. It really doesn't sound good, so I'm not expecting feedback or reviews.

Well, hope you all had a better week than I (especially those who had to go back to school, I feel you).

Ah, what better way to say Happy New Year with your internet constantly going out and your tablet not charging at all (I really need to get that thing fixed..).

So, I guess instead of "New Year's resolutions", I'm instead going to challenge myself to see if I actually work on, finish, and publish all the tracks I want to make this year (+ some extras if I'm screwing around and I find an idea I like).

-The list of these songs/projects are not in order-

I want to finish working on Lunar Energy. That will be a melodic(?) drumstep song.

I want to finish working on Dinosaurs. That will be a riddim song (basically dubstep, 140 BPM).

I probably should revisit my liquid DnB song, Polar Ice. As soon as I find a good breakdown for it, it will move very quickly.

I want to make this electro song, _____e ___e. I found some bass loops and synths that will mix perfectly.

I have two collaborations going. One will be an original electro song and the other will be a VIP of .:This is the End:. So, of course, I want those to be finished this year.

I have a glitch hop song in the works, and I want to work on it but if anything I'll end up releasing it to the audio portal as an attempt at glitch hop.

I have an idea for a new dubstep song, G_____ _ S____. But I don't even have any ideas on how I want the project to go. Maybe it could be a demo of my work to show to other websites.

I could probably rework my remix of Raining Lake, and then revise all the mixing before posting it.

I also want to make a drumstep remix of _us__ __m___.

Not to mention, I might, JUST MIGHT try my hand at remixing without a midi file. I have a few songs I could choose, but I honestly don't know how it will end up.

I also want to VIP some of my tracks, but who knows if I'll ever get around to it and what songs.

This is a lot of tracks right here. Loosely, it's about 12. 12 tracks per year which would be about one month per track. School's going to weigh down a lot of that time, so I can already tell some of these will not be done. And who knows if I'll only do two collabs, maybe more people will want to or the artists I'm already working with may want to do more than one. 12 tracks is just an estimate. Some of these are half done, so this does seem like a slightly realistic goal. I'm up for the challenge.

There's one more project I want to do and I honestly need some interest on it before I even start to work on it. I found this channel that features all of the unreleased songs from Virtual Riot on YouTube. There's many unfinished tracks on there and I thought of making a mashup of some of them to make one song. This won't be entirely VR's work, since I have his sample pack I could probably add a few things myself and try to make it to work to sound like one track. I know many are turned off by mashup's (unless it was the Panda Eyes and Virtual Riot one that I see posted on here constantly), which is why I'm hesitiant on doing it. I need some interest because I certainly don't want to waste my time that I could be using for these 12 original compositions/remixes for a mashup nearly nobody will listen to. It can't be on Newgrounds, and I'm not even sure SoundCloud would let me post it. It would probably be a YouTube exclusive (and yes I'm aware my remixes can't go up here either, but hopefully there's a chance SoundClous will let me post those).

By the end of this year, I hope to come back to this post and see how much of this I got done, it will be a lot.

Everyone I see on here and other places of the internet say it was a bad year. I disagree. As far as life, 2013-2015 were the worst 3 years. If you knew as well as the friends I've had for years on other sites, you would know exactly why. It was about time I had a good year. Lots of things happened. I got my first phone, I got into EDM (now with like 400 songs in my playlist lol), I started my music hobby, I got into this great education (there's some cons on the school I'm going to, however), and I actually overcame a fear I had. I had lots of adventure, it was practically a rollercoaster. Now, in the mixed world of opinions, I'm sure there's many reasons why 2016 was bad. Celebrities dying, the election (please don't debate this in the comments everyone has their opinions), etc. Hopefully 2017 will be even better for everyone.

Of course, I've also enjoyed being on here this year. It's nice getting to know all of you. (@JK-FlipFlop, I swear I'm not copying off you on purpose I was going to do this anyway XD).

To @Agitat0r for helping me out at the beginning of being on this site and my music career. And having to put up with me when I was still going through rough times.

To @JK-FlipFlop for always giving me very constructive reviews on my work, and being a great person to talk to.

To @Troisnyx and @NekoMika for being very helpful moderators and answering my questions about this place and audio in general.

To @AzeXiR for being a nice friend to have.

To @LuckyLightTitan for being around to talk to, and being supportive of my work.

To @EDM364 for also being a helpful moderator and a person to discuss ideas with.

To @MysteriousPresence and @Zechnition for also helping me out with criticism.

To @RobertsV for being one of the few I know outside of Geometry Dash and a great friend.

To a specific couple of haters, you guys give me motivation to move on lol.

To my fans, @Ante45 @botnot435 @CatOfSnow @CoolNinjaTMNTfan @Croude @CyanideCupcakes @DapperBomb @Daru925 @DJ-AleksaTheGreat @DontEvenAskdea @IanEllard @IvoAluminum @Jonlenn @omithealien @phobosfromss @Poppletron @Spurta @TheMerkyMuttheadz @VizualDeciple + all the ones previously mentioned on this list, it's not having even a small audience :P

It's almost mesmerizing looking at this list knowing how many people I have to mention, it's really great getting to know all of you, again. There's one I didn't mention, and that's because I wasn't sure if they were going to be comfortable being mentioned. Same goes for you all. If you're not comfortable being on this post, there is an edit button lol. And if there are some I didn't mention, I'm sorry.

Here's to 2017, a hopefully better year even for those who thought it sucked.

:D

I wanted to try a new style somewhat. It's a bit unmelodic, but hey, I at least tried making a drop. Currently this is just a preview for feedback and something to have in my submission page before I go crawling back to the depths of hel- I mean, school. I accidentally forgot to disable downloads, but there is 18 downloads so people must like it. If any of you are reading this, let me know what you think. Should I keep this harsh style, or should I go back to something else?

I'm going to try and keep the song at dubstep, but I got these neurofunk drum loops and I'm REALLY tempted to make the second drop neurofunk. Neurofunk usually has a lot of reese bass in it though, and the song has no reese so far. However, in the two dubstep/neurofunk combinations I've listened to, they don't have reese either. It's basically the same drop with a faster tempo and drum pattern. I'll experiment a little. If I still keep it at dubstep, there's this really sick thing I want to try during the second drop.

Not to mention, this track is also semi-dedicated to Kill Rex. He's a pretty brutal artist most of the time, and he slightly inspired me to try something like his style (except he's 10 times better). Hence why I named it .:Dinosaurs:. Fact of the day! Who knows, maybe he might notice it when I post the full thing to Soundcloud.

I have been on Newgrounds over 1 year, over 300 posts, and as the 600,000th user ever, to have attained 28 fans! It was very challenging to become a Living Legend. There were many who thought that I would never be able to do it. There were many people that tried hard to stop me, mostly hater mods. However, I did earn it. Great things in life are earned.

If I never did another thing on Newgrounds, I will still always be remembered as a Five Star Living Legend. No matter what happens, that can never be taken anyway from me.

The charging chord on my computer is completely fried. My computer only charges for a few seconds and then it stops. I'm just hoping it's just it needs a new chord and not that the charging port is damaged. If the charging port is damaged, I'm s c r e w e d.

I guess no more music progress or news posts for a couple days until I can get this fixed.

December 27th update: Got a new adapter! :D Thought it wasn't working at first, then I found out I had the wrong tip.

To be more politically correct..

I was going to have a short glitch hop track out today, but because I like it so much and don't want to screw it up I decided to take my time on it and release it in 2017. What I can give you though is an unmixed preview of my collab with TheDubStepTronic. I'm excited for the outcome of this collab. Since it's only a VIP of my latest track, I didn't drastically change much. I still used the same synth for the pre-drop, because any other synth I used did not have the correct pitch. Now I just got to wait for my turn on Voltage. In the mean time I can work on my riddim track and my drumstep track since both intros are done on that.

Other than that, I hope everyone had a great Christmas (or any other holiday you may have celebrated). Mine was better than anticipated, so that's great.

Ayyyy I got dat silver whistle yesterday. Now I got to work up to gold :P I got a lot of satisfaction yesterday posting to the audio cleanup thread. It finally hit me: I can complain all I want about how these ignorant GD brats think the rules don't apply to them and still do whatever they want after seeing that big-ass sign at the beginning of the submission page, but the only way we're ever going to get rid of it is flagging it. If only these people knew what serious legal trouble can happen from audio theft especially on a site like this..

So, I probably will not have anything else to submit for 2016. .:This is the End:. well, was the end. Ironically enough, I'm collaborating with TheDubStepTronic to make a VIP version of that. I'm horrible at drops, he's terrible at intro's, so this is a collaboration where we can hopefully study what we do. I'm almost finished with the intro, because it's a VIP and I still have to remind listeners of the original song. I'm revising the intro and doing things I got on the reviews for the song, but it will still sound similar to the original mix.

Also, I'm doing that electro house collab with AzeXiR, so that should be coming up as soon as I get a part of it. In the middle of that, I have some original mixes I could be working on. I could always try and make a better drop for Lunar Energy, for instance. I also did start this riddim song though, and I like that drop better. Maybe I can release some previews and see what people think. I also have some ID's I plan on releasing, and maybe if I get interest I can work on those.

Finally I actually want to try my hand at a non-MIDI remix next year as well. I'm not sure if I'll be able to post it on here. According to some I've talked to there's a debate between what remixes/covers you can upload and which ones you can't. To keep my access to the audio portal I think I'd be better off posting them to Soundcloud or YouTube. If anyone does want to volunteer, I do need help transcribing a few notes of the song. That's the one talent I wish I could have. I'll credit whoever does it, but it will be non-compensated since all my music is free at this point in time.

Other than that, I hope to finally be creating music at a regular schedule again. This time, better.

This is sort of a rant post, I tend to get [extremely] cynical around Christmas.

So, if anyone knows Massive, I apparently have no idea how to make my own synths. Like, if I want to play 2 oscillators at once, it won't. No matter if I switch the tables, it still only plays whatever oscillator I set the first one to. Regardless of the fact all 3 oscillators are on.

I kind of need to make some leads, because I've actually realized something.

I HAVE BARELY ANY LEADS

Most of the stuff in my preset library, made by me or not, is all bass instruments. Growls, wobbles, basses that using them as synths make no sense whatsoever. I've pretty much used up all the synths that I have, previously. God knows I don't want to start recycling them. My tracks are cringe enough..

I've barely been working on anything as far as music wise. I've not really lost any motivation, I just know I can't do it. I guess it comes from being an extreme perfectionist. For example, yesterday we had a group project in math and we had to do a poster project. Since we get graded on them I try and make them look nice. One of the group members wanted to delve right in with the markers, while I suggested sketching it out with pencil then tracing it. The people in my group traced horribly. Mostly because one person wanted to do all the tracing and someone else in the group reached over and tried tracing it. Somehow during that the poster also got punctured. Well, knowing myself I now thought the poster was deemed ruined. This is how I work with music. I get a good start, but then if it starts sounding bad then I just quit the project entirely. I start worrying the finish product will end up sounding like this. I'm also a perfectionist when it comes to listeners. I'm extremely picky when it comes to what music I want on my playlist. Rarely will I add small scale artists (by small scale I mean artists who don't have thousands of followers and are promoted on record labels) on my playlist. I know I'm not the only one who has a carefully selected playlist. So if something I make doesn't even sound close to what I would listen to, I start over with something new. I want to strive towards satisfying the people who have specific tastes like I. I tell myself "well I'm pretty sure all the big time artists probably have years of practice behind them" then I see submissions on here that are "yo this is my first dubstep attempt" and are way better than anything I've made so far. So, my pessimistic thoughts overpower my optimistic thoughts. I can lie to myself and say my stuff is good, but when a game developer rejects two of your song attempts and an audio moderator prunes you from the portal, "my stuff is good" isn't really a valid lie anymore.

Now, I know none of that probably made sense. It's why I don't vent out my thoughts, it's a jumbled mess lol.

I've already spent more time than I should have. Literally I started writing this thing like 45 minutes ago.
