So I'm gonna try making another dubstep track yaay. It's actually sounding good so far. I think I finally found a way to balance the volumes and reverb levels. It's using prism and a slight bit of detune, 2 things I thought I would never try. I seriously just need to force myself to finish this, I'm tired of saying I'm gonna make something and never finish it.

School for me is in 3 days. Now normally this wouldn't be a big deal as far as affecting my time on here, but it does.

The short version:

I'm probably not going to be on but maybe once a day to respond to things and I probably won't be making a track any time soon.

The long version:

The school I'm going to is a prepatory school. It's like a mix between public and private. Certainly there dress code is public school, but it's also a very strict school. You even think about bullying and you'll be expelled before you can reach the office. But it's also very strict as far as other rules and your education. Parents recieve a report every day about their child. The teachers analyze anything you do. If you were even a minute late to class, that's going on the report. You can't hide anything from anyone.

So why does this justify getting a hiatus?

It may not, but I also have a lot of struggle with comprehending. If you think I should be farther than where I am with music, you're most likely correct. I just know I'll have to spend time studying like a lot. School runs from 9 to let's say 3. There's after school stuff I want to do, then there's homework, family stuff, and then I have to be asleep early to be up at 7:00. I'm probably not going to have much time to do music or be in a lot of chats. I'll be on here at least once a day to respond to comments, reviews, and pm's but I'm not going to be extrememly active. Basically, I'm only writing this so if you wonder why I'm not responding, that's why.

But it's not just not being on here, it's also audio. I'm struggling a lot with making a track. I'm tired of every 3 days saying "I'm gonna make this" but I later abandon it for various reasons. This was a trance between a lot of interests I wanted to take up. I look at many artists on here and they've been practicing for as long as I have and are a lot better. Their also quite independent. Me? I'm probably the most dependent user on here. It's almost depressing how much I've asked for help when it comes easy to some. The thing is I know about audio a lot. I know wave forms, EQ, the mere basics of music theory, arps, drum patterns, and other little things. It's fun experimenting like with my 280 BPM track but when it comes to making a full track-- I'm point blank. I want to take up dubstep (I'm a freaking dubstephile and I can't even make a simple one), and people tell me I should try other genres but I don't see how those would be easier. I also have a huge hate for sound design, as far as I've looked at there's no tutorials on sound design. Then again, how do you give tutorials on sound design? I'm probably gonna try and make some wobbles so I'm not using the same growl for everything. And no I don't have Serum, not everyone can afford that.

This post is probably useless, honestly. I may even end up deleting it. I just want to let fans and friends know why I may not be on much and why it may be a while before I make something.

See ya,

Last month me and @Inchisano were talking about dubstep. I was mentioning some Skrillex songs I've heard, one of them I mentioned was Reptile's Theme. He told me that was a 100 BPM song, which I never knew. I responded with I heard from somewhere EH!DE made a 70 BPM dubstep song (I've actually never found source on it, does anybody here know?). Then Inchisano explained to me 70 was half of 140, and 70 BPM would be like 140 BPM. I said I wonder if you could double it to 280 BPM. His response was "I'm not f*cking with that high of a BPM" XD

Well, you don't have to because I already did that experiment.

It was really late at night (this seems to be the only time I'm motivated to doing audio, especially when it comes to weird crap like this) and I thought I should play around with FL Studio. Just because it's a DAW doesn't mean you can't have fun every once in a while. I loaded my growl, picked some drums (yes I use stock samples, there's nothing wrong with them), and started making some modulation. This uses some phaser speed modulation and offset modulation (offset modulation is the only way you're gonna get that growl noise). The speed modulation sounds REALLY cool imo, hopefully it gave more variation to the track. This was also an excuse to practice mixing and mastering. Anyone think the mix sounds good?

I'm not uploading this to the audio portal, instead you can listen to this on dropbox:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/kh8yolmy7huyu29/280%20BPM%20Fun.mp3?dl=0

What I also didn't know is when every time I upload to dropbox there's a download button, meaning anybody can download it. This worries me about someone stealing my work. The only thing I can think of that will protect me is I'm the only one with the .flp. I'd be glad to let someone use my stuff, but I would like to be asked first.

Anyways, I hope you like it. Feel free to share your thoughts.

Hi everyone so I'm going back to pris- I mean school in 6 days, some people have already started and others still get some time off. And for those who had summer school all year, I know that feel from last year.

Yeah I know I should be thankful kids in places like Africa don't have the opprtunity of education.

Anyways, I think I'm finally ready to attempt a track again. I think I've got a good melody going as far as the intro. It's semi-inspired off of this amazing track but won't be near as good. This track is going to be dubstep, but I will only release it if I think it sounds good. I'm going to attempt using prism for the drop, since I made a growl-ish sine. I've never liked prism tbh, it sounds like a pitchy mess. However, with the theme I'm trying to match and with the melody I made, I think it will work out for the best. There's no guarantee this will be done soon or will even be finished. Lots of times I've abandoned tracks but my latest submission got a good score and that was a dubstep-centered track, so I'm pretty motivated for this one. If the drop isn't the best, it's better than what horrors I made 5 months ago.

Again, it will be a while before I post this, I'm going with somebody's method of working on it after it's done for a few days. I'm going to invest some free time on it while I still have it. But first, let me take a screenshot:

For a while I've been holding off on making my next track because I want my next track to be good. Now, while I am fond of my newer tracks it's still not good as in "wow that blew my mind" good.

I feel like I've been learning a bit lately, but I'm trying to revolve my time around sound design. This next track will be dubstep, and I want it to contain growls. Well the only way to have a variety of growls in an FL Studio native plug-in is Sytrus, and I'm really bad at FM. I have 2 growls in Harmor and 1 in Sytrus, so I should be covered to make a somewhat decent drop. I'm putting some time in this track, because I really want to excel.

Also I'm gonna do what somebody told me a while ago and listen to the finished product for a few days and see what I can add, change, remove. Hopefully by the end of August I'll have something. Unfortunately after that is school, meaning I'll have lesser time to work on tracks. Guess we'll see what time brings us.

Decided to do some daily practice again, and maybe I could do some homework every day until I'm ready to try a track again.

This is just a short 8 bar loop I did for a drop. It has growls like my last one (not Skrillex or Zomboy type growls just average ones). I also decided to have an 8-bit sounding tune that I made in 3x Osc a while ago. Then I added a cut-off wobble I made this morning. Actually messed around with Harmor envelopes to make something. Finally added some bass and panning/frequency automation to make this:

I'll eventually attempt a full track again. Just got to get better at sound design, melodies, and mixing.

Lately I've been trying to practice dubstep, more importantly drops. A friend told me I should make the drop first because it's easier for him to shape the intro around the drop, so I'm gonna test out that method when I make another track. At the moment I've been experimenting with sounds, melodies, chords, it's not like I have 400 fans waiting for me to release my next hit single so I'm taking some time.

Here's a bit of a drop I did today, it sounds more like an intro than a drop though. It still sounds really cool imo.

Can't wait to actually make a track again.

When I created my Soundcloud I wanted to put my better tracks there, and offer them for download. Well, currently I consider .:To the Sky:. and .:Nightlights:. my only good tracks. There's no way I was going to just leave my SC with 1 track until I got the motivation to finish another one, so I waited until I was done with .:Nightlights:.

The problem with .:To the Sky:. was.. it was rushed. It actually has no mixing/mastering, no reverb, and half of the song is constructed on .wav files. .:Nightlights:. had a lot more time put into it, people thought the mixing was good, had a lot of originality, used chords, used advanced automation, etc.

But somehow, on my SoundCloud..

5655099_146947092033_Screenshot122.png

...:To the Sky:. has 7 likes and a download and .:Nightlights:. has a repost. Now, trust me, I'm not complaining. It's satisfying people like .:To the Sky:. so much, it's one I like as well. It's just confusing that a rushed track stood out more than a track that had effort put into it.

So let me ask you readers something, if you've listened to both tracks-- which one do you like better?
