BlueAlpha14's News

Yeah, my new track is here! I spent a lot of time making this in its current state, go check it out.

This track was mainly practice. I'm still not good with many things, and I still have so much to learn. However, I wanted to release something new for a change and finally show where my current music experience is. It's only getting better from here.

My name change will take place sometime this weekend. I need to see if I can change my name on all platforms, and I also need to create a new profile photo. I'm not popular enough to verify hiring a graphic artist so I'm resorting to my photo editor instead.

And to keep this simple, I have a few projects I'm working on. I wanted some opinions on if I should do them.

So far I have:

-A drumstep remix of a video game song (I'm not saying what the song is).

-A sorta ambient/dubstep remix of a video game song ("    "    "    ").

-A short drum and bass track for practice.

-A 110 BPM VIP (Variation in Production in case you don't know what that stands for) of one of my older dubstep tracks.

The drumstep remix is more complicated than I thought. I'm probably going to get stuck on the drop a lot. The ambient remix is going to be good. It's 70 BPM, which I don't know if that's a typical ambient tempo (someone said ambient is 25 BPM, but there's no way in hell I'm going THAT slow) but 70 is half of 140 and if I want to give it a dubstep twist I was told 70 is like 140 BPM. The 110 BPM track I can tell I'm going to have problems making a drop. And eh, I'm not real confident about the DnB track..

What do you think?

A. Dude hang up the dubstep stuff for a while and make DnB.

B. Ambient/Dubstep? Eh.. I'm curios..

C. I like fast stuff so drumstep ye.

D. Variation is good, so yeah work on the 110 thing.

E. iT'S TIME TO STOP making music you suck at it

F. (your answer)

The thing that is going to suck about the remixes is I can't post them here due to Newgrounds rules. It makes it less convenient because I don't want to be one of those "Bruh check out my SoundCloud" people, despite that's where I put my free downloads if anyone wants them.

See you soon,

Look at this guys. I have 300 songs of these genres alone. I actually don't have that much DnB. The only DnB I have in this playlist is from Droptek, Virtual Riot, and Getter. This playlist is mostly dubstep centered but yeah, I clearly have problems. I'm still kinda adjusting it because I'm weeding out the songs I'm either sick to death of hearing or songs that are terrible and not worth listening to.

5655099_147873326453_Screenshot_2016-11-09-15-05-44.png

And then I hvae a playlist explicitly for Electro. It used to be with my dubstep playlist, and in a lot of ways its similar to dubstep to the point where people will confuse the two (obviously since people think F-777 and MDK are dubstep artists, but MDK is mainly electro and F-777 is kinda complextro). I'm kinda elaborating on this playlist. Some House may have slipped in here because 1. I legit thought the House music on NoCopyrightSounds was electro and 2. Some songs are "electro house" so I may as well throw them in here. Complextro is in this playlist as well.

5655099_147873349763_Screenshot_2016-11-09-15-06-01.png

And then here we have Future Bass. As you can tell there really is not much here. I don't really actively look for Future Bass as much as the other genres. But to think, my dubstep playlist had 7 songs at one point. I'm not sure if I should make this exclusively Future Bass or if I should throw some other chill genres in there like Ambient and Liquid DnB. Either way you can tell where my interests are.

Also if you're wondering why you keep seeing that Lucario and the 'Never Say Die' record cover it's because of this glitch the tag editor I downloaded has. The first time with the Lucario picture is because I didn't put an album name on the song I was changing the cover art to, so it changed the cover art to that on every mp3 file in my Device Storage. The same thing happened with the other image but it did it to every mp3 file on my SD Card. This glitch happens outside of that too. I downloaded some songs from theartistunion and put them all in a zip file to put on my phone. It changed every mp3 file in that zip file to the same cover art. I have no clue sometimes.

I really don't know why I made this post lol. I will say my track will be released this week. I'm finishing the mastering so it sounds eh somewhat decent. After that there won't be a new track for a bit. I clearly still have much to learn about music. However, in my next news post I will put up some things I'm working on and get some opinions if I should scrape it or try and make it work. And in the near future I'm putting up a faction of my unfinished stuff to see if it should be scraped, worked on, or maybe I could give the notes to somebody and they could elaborate on the project themselves. I may finally be getting motivation again.

So, yeah, about my track, I know it was supoosed to be done this week. I actually should apoligize to the game developer who wants to use it, they could've had the game out.

However, I've been wanting to get some criticism for the track. So far 3 people have reviewed it and they like it, I need to edit my mixing however. There's way too much compression, and now it's unbalanced. But, other than that, there's a couple other reasons why I haven't finished the track or even got the motivation to work on it. You'll see when the track gets released why I made it to begin with. It's called .:Winter's Acid:. (despite my WIP's are titled .:This is the End:., idk which name I'm gonna use). I hope you guys enjoy it, and for those who may not think it's all that good this is what my "dubstep" used to sound like compared to now. Also if you're morbidly curios just listen up to 0:46 seconds because that's what the rest of the sound sounds like up until the last 30 seconds.

The honestly most depressing part about that song is while people probably thought I was trolling the audio portal I legit listened to that and said "Yep this is good I think the world will like it and I'mma post it to NG", hence why I try not to be harsh with those who are starting out making music.

Anyways, as a forewarning, now that I have a form of payment Newgrounds will accept I will be changing my username pretty much shortly after I release .:Winter's Acid:. or .:This is the End:. or whatever. Now, I could just release under this username with a different alias similar to Rukkus with NightKILLA and Realistik but I wouldn't want anyone to think I was stealing audio. I could just make a new account and keep this one but having one account is convienient for all my stats, medals, and whatnot. I'm not going to say outside of a PM what I want to change my username to, because I know a troll on here will specifically open up an account with that username and never touch it just so I can't use it. At least in a PM I'll know who to pinpoint if it happens. I am stuck between a couple names, so if you're someone who's great at picking names, hit me up.

I can tell you it's probably not going to be a name no one's ever heard before like Skrillex, Teminite, EH!DE, Deltabot, Nanomake, I'm naming only dubstep artists wth is wrong with me-

Anyways, thanks for reading.

Just listened to KDrew for the first time, holy crap what a legend.

And Kill the Noise is good too.

(Yeah, I'm streaming)

Anyways, this melodic experiment I've been saying I was doing is actually done. I was really inspired to finish it, and I tried to make it good. Currently I'm doing mixing and mastering, which isn't the best but I'm trying ok. At least you know at this point there's no way I'm abandoning a finished track that just needs some mixing and mastering done. I really want to give the intro and the pre-drop a kind of stage effect (kind of like at a concert) and really emphasize the melody during the drop. I wouldn't necessarily call this melodic dubstep, but it is a few notes layered with a growl and wobble. I honestly love this growl TO DEATH but I tried my hardest to kill being repetitive, and add some variety.

(Also Google Play will you please let me skip songs again I don't want to listen to Bassnectar I want my Skrillex ;_;

This is why I like downloading. I can skip songs all I want and make playlists.)

I was inspired by this one dubstep song on here that had a few dubstep sounds layered with very melodic power. However, I did screw up on one thing I'm probably going to be jumped on about is I kinda ignored chord theory. A chord is something usually vital in any track that consists of 3 notes (why I'm explaining this idk). The lead in the track is two notes played at once, layered with a bass(?) it's 4 notes. The drop is just one note entirely, layered at the first part and double layered on the second part of both drops.

(Dear mother of gawd I am never streaming again if I'm forced to listen to 3 songs that I hate wth)

Either way it shouldn't matter because I think it sounds good. I've released the WIP to one user and he thought it was good, so I'm hoping that's a step in the right direction. It's a lot better than the dubstep I used to release I can guarantee you that much.

(Ok Google Play this is really getting annoying STOP WITH THE UNSKIPPABLE SONGS-)

I'm hoping this track willl be done this week, if homework doesn't bullet drive from doing it.

Having a bad weekend as it is, and on top of it. My headset broke. I have no idea what the hell happened, but the sound is only coming out of the left side, the right side is completely shot. Probably not gonna get any music out this weekend.

Edit: And yes, the same thing is happening on all my devices.

Hai guys the tail end of a typhoon is coming to state. Bye thanks for everything :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

So I know I keep putting off the release of .:Poltergeist:. but I haven't had time to work on it for 2 reasons.

1) I have a summative essay in Language Arts, it was due today but my teacher is really laid back so he said we could work on it this weekend, but we'll start losing points if it's not due on Monday. I have literally 9 pages so far, I got too involved with the story I was doing.

2) I've been messing around with this experiment.

5655099_147649181011_Screenshot185.png

I've been getting lots of samples recently. Mostly drum samples because the drums I'm using are stock samples and they're just not as powerful. Wait till you hear these, they're much more energetic. I'm also using a growl sample, now I know I was told by someone I should make my own dubstep sounds instead of using samples/presets because you develop a style instead of using samples/presets everyone else uses. I strongly agree with that person but these are really sick growls and I have to try them out.

And, I'm not good at making growls much less wobbles. The only growl I've ever made is the lead in .:Poltergeist:.. Does that tell you how good of a growl it was?

Oh, also do you notice the project file is actually color coded and organized? Yeah, I got really tired of all the tutorials I watch saying you have to have your playlist organized, so I decided to try it myself. It's also color coded. Blue is for the melodies, red is for the drums, green is going to be for the basses like growls, wobbles, actual bass whatnot. Yellow will probably be for automation, if I use any.

The project file kinda looks empty, but this is more or less an experiment.

Anyways, I should have time this weekend to finish .:Poltergeist:. before the typhoon comes-

For real though, I have a good chance of losing power. So if I talk to you regulary and I don't respond to anything you say, I'm probably flipping out from being bored.

After learning a bit of music theory and other stuff, I wanted to try my hand at a track again. But here's the thing, for a long time now I've been starting tracks but never finishing them. I would only make 16 bar loops and never touch it again.

Well THIS time I actually felt motivated and almost have it done. But, no matter how good I think I've gotten, I don't know if I actually am better. Especially when it comes to drops.

So, please listen to this and tell me if this is a track I should finish and upload before I spend any more time on it. I'm honestly open to any criticism. I'm curios if I should use different sounds or if there's anything that could make it sound more interesting.

Also TURN YOUR SPEAKERS DOWN just in case because I haven't balanced the mastering. It will be fixed I promise.

Figured I'd name some artists in my music playlist (because it's Saturday night and I'm bored as hell). I'm not going to name the ones I only have one song of like Dead Suspect and Exee Moreno because that's really stupid.

Teminite

Panda Eyes

Astronaut

Spag Heddy

Skrillex

Zomboy

EH!DE

Zikiel

Deltabot

Nasko

Pegboard Nerds

Zetta

Zerryx

Stabby

Synclan

Nanomake

Kv9

Nitro Fun

Droptek

Coyote Kisses

Brig

LusiD

Wubbaduck

MDK

Too Vain

OK if that doesn't convince you I'm mostly a dubstep freak idk what will. Some of the artists I only have 1-2 songs of are Proton Man, Meta, Tetrix Bass, QuixSmell, Colbreakz, Dritic, Kotori, Paradigm, Heamy, HEHVY, Barely Alive, Twine, ZenStep, Sound Remedy, Tisoki, Synchronice, Hyper Potions, Grant Bowtie, Shield, R3x0R, Wavemode, What's Noise, Schoolboy, Dr. Ozi, Dark Elixir, Brandon Holman, Tobu, Creation, Getter, Two Sides, Bear Grillz, Rootkit, Tut Tut Child, Tristam, Rogue, Shurk, Haywyre, PON3, Marshmello, SNAILS, Control Freak, Laszlo, Razihel, Fytch, Slushii, K-391, Disrobe, Disfigure, and 1-uP.

That is not including some of my favorite NG artists like DJVI, F-777, and Xtrullor.

Ok I've proven myself to be obsessed now.

Also, if any of you musicians are feeling unmotivated and think your music is total crap. You're always better than this guy..

One of the priveleges my school will allow is music. Depending on how new age your teacher is, they're more than okay with it. My history teacher doesn't think you should have the privelege of music in a school, but the teachers of my both my tech classes are obviously okay with technology because they teach it. One rule I hate. Our tech classes will only allow music from the computer. We can stream music, but it's not like my phone where I have my organized playlists. And my phone consists of music I have, not music I'm going to get attached to and later want to buy it when I save my money for much more important things blah blah blah. Now I know the school only allows it from the computer because if it's during a test or a quiz they don't want you looking up the answers and they want to moderate what you listen to. But if it's on my phone and I use my headset it shouldn't matter as long as nobody else hears it. The only listening to it on the computer rule isn't something I'm whining about, it's still a privelege. But my robotics teacher (my first tech class) made a list of stuff we weren't allowed to listen to. No swearing, drug references, sex references, violence references, and if YouTube was our streaming device the video or audio couldn't be any of the above. But also, my robotic teacher but dubstep as one of the violations. Tf is wrong with dubstep? I mean, not only I obsess over it, but how does it that apply to any of the previous violations? I can name a few songs in the dubstep genre that has swearing or drug references (for example What's Noise - Thunderstoned is an example of borederline drug reference because of "stoned"). But the teacher specifically said we couldn't listen to it AT ALL. Not all rock, rap, or country is inappropiate. Neither is dubstep or any other EDM genre. It begs the question where teachers actually have listened to it. They did listen to a Skrillex song and get the general assumption all dubstep is like that? I could probably name a few artists who doesn't make any dubstep with innapropiate content. Because like with traditional and any other EDM genres you're going to have innapropiate songs and non-innapropiate. That's how music works. The thing I'm confused it, is it just dubstep or does this apply to drumstep, electro, glitch hop, and trap as well? And if I listen to an EDM channel like MrSuicideSheep, xKito Music, Monstercat, or AirwaveMusicTV is that not ok either because they feature dubstep songs? My conclusion is, I can certainly comply to rules of finding appropiate music. But, if other students can listen to genres as long as they check to see if the lyrics are alright or if the video content isn't bad, why is dubstep being generallized as it's not safe for children (more specifically 13 - 14 year olds) to listen to? Not much fairness there.

Now I know I just sent a screenshot a couple days ago saying I was making a new track, well the whole thing didn't sound like dubstep and it had terrible mixing, this one is much better. It's just the intro so far, the drop may take a while. However, I am convinced I should get Serum. Honestly, when you look up sound design tutorials for dubstep, you'll get pages upon pages of Massive or Serum, but maybe like 3 or 4 results for Sytrus or Harmor. Now I have heard some dubstep that has made heavy usage of Harmor, however there's got to be something they're doing that these other sound design tutors aren't discovering.

Hopefully I'll get this particular track out asap.
