Personal Top 5 Best of my Favorite Audio Composers Part 1

Posted by BlueAlpha14 - March 22nd, 2016

So I like only a few artists on NG (I'm picky lol) but I thought I'd list my 5 favorite of every artist I actively listen to. No reason, just bored.

Rukkus (NightKILLA, Realistik):

1. ~NK~ PlaneT Ten

This is legit probably the best I've ever heard from Rukkus. I was a bit leery to listen to it since his (I hope I'm assuming the wrong gender) newer songs are better but it's just mind-blowing. It's calm and the drop is so simple. I wanted to attempt remixing it (to try something different instead of making crappy beats with preset instruments in FL mobile) but I'd have to listen to it thousands of times to memorize the pattern and then I'd be sick of it. Normally I listen to songs I really like once every few days so I don't lose interest.

2. ~NK~ Problematic

Normally people who specialize in one genre of music (like Waterflame does Video Game Loops, Xtrullor does Dubstep, etc.) aren't really that good at any other genre. Rukkus has done a few Techno songs like ~NK~ Meltdown, which isn't that bad, but he's a lot better at dubstep. Well Problematic isn't dubstep, it's house. I'm not an active fan of house because depending on the artist it's annoying, Problematic however is really nice. The drop is obviously my favorite part, while it doesn't loop many times like Sine Wavs freaking looped 10 times, it captures.. idk. I just like it.

3. ~NK~ Poltergeist

Now I must say this was probably really great since it used a lot of instruments and it's generally advanced for 2012, it captures the feeling of terror, and the drops were just amazing. The synths were also really nice, and I can tell a lot of work was put into it.

4. Astronaut - 13 (Rukkus Remix)

When I first heard this song I wasn't real attached to it, the first few seconds were amazing, but I didn't like the drop. It kind of grew on me after a while, especially how awesome the growls were.

5. ~NK~ Evil

I find it difficult to explain the reasons why I like this song. It's odd how some songs I can say 'oh I like this and this and this and this' and other times I can be like 'I just like it'. Evil kind of captures a dark feeling, it feels like a rock concert especially with the cheering. However it is annoying I can't listen to it on full volume without it screeching into my ears.

Honorable mentions are Jawbreaker, Nine Circles, Underground, Sweet Dreams, and Figures.

F-777:

1. EnV-ious (Tribute to EnV)

Now when I had first heard of F-777 I checked out his Newgrounds page and some of songs are amazing, but when I found out he had a boatload more songs that weren't on here that were uploaded to YouTube it was a whole new world. I had decided to listen to some of his Megamixes and one of them was Raptor. The cover art was amazing and I decided to listen to the full thing. The whole album was just badass but the one that captured my attention the most was EnV-ious. This song is just amazing and I can hands down say it will always be my favorite of F-777 no matter what.

2. Zombie Shuffle

This was the first song I had listened to on his newer album The Dancing Dead and I was amazed. The fact that music this good exists is what keeps me alive. 1:13 is my favorite part even though it's not extended much. It really gives me energy, and while I'm not a fan of some parts of it, it stands out more to me.

3. Airborne Robots

Ludicrous Speed was a really good album. It had really fast-paced songs that were so epically composed. When I had started playing Geometry Dash Meltdown I had really liked listening to Airborne Robots, while I had never heard of it before GD Meltdown I listened to the full track. And what's the greatest about this track is how it progressively gets faster and faster. And it gives me vibes of Sonic Blaster (would be my favorite if I listed his NG exclusive songs).

4. Bring Me Back

While I can safely say me listing this as number 4 I only liked the synth part at the beginning, and I could've listed a lot more songs on this Top 5 but I thought I'd be a bit more into variety by listing my favorite song of different albums (instead of doing stupid stuff like listing my top 5 of the Raptor album because RaptorisjustsodamnamazingOMG).

5. Viking Arena

The build-up to the drop was probably my favorite part of the song, you know around 0:29. It really gave the greatest viking vibes of Viking Dance Machine.

Honorable mentions are too many too list.

Xtrullor:

1. Paracosm

I'm extremely addicted to the first 30 seconds of this song. I have no idea what instrument that is but it's spectacular. One of the main aspects about Xtrullor is he names his sings so uniquely that have definition. Paracosm means "A world created within one's mind". And that's how I feel about Xtrullor, he has his own realm of dubstep (now keep in mind I don't actively explore music outside of Newgrounds). It does feel like a whole new realm if you imagine it. Overall, this is my favorite of Xtrullor.

2. Ichor

While Ichor and Paracosm battle it out for my spot of #1 I didn't like the second drop of Ichor. I'm getting ahead of myself so let's back up. Ichor is orchestral dubstep, which seems to be a new trend for this artist. I've found many orchestral dubstep tracks by other artists and it's not really even dubstep. Most "dubstep" isn't even fitting the genre. Do yourself a favor and never listen to the dubstep radio on Google Play Music. There's either not a drop or too bland of one for me to notice. This song in particular starts out great, and it gets progressively better. Especially the part after the second drop. I didn't like the second drop, but it is one of Xtrullor's bests.

3. Terran Era

I kind of have the same words for this as I do with Ichor. The pre-drop is really nice and does have a bit of medieval feel to it. The drop was alright, but it's not the reason I listen to it.

4. Supernova

Supernova is a song that's really melodic. I thought the pre-drop was a song in itself, but no, it's got another 4 minutes of awesomeness. The first drop of this was really amazing, and it felt like an alien invasion. I like to create scenes in my mind and sometimes lyrics listening to these songs and it puts so many images into my head. I really hope Xtrullor remakes this someday. Considering how much he's evolved, I would probably die listening to it. Now while I probably would've put this at a higher number, it gets real hard to play Geometry Dash and play levels that use this song over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.

5. Screamroom

Screamroom is one of the few distortion tracks Xtrullor made, and compared to his distortion tracks Screamroom is the best. It kind of sounds orchestral to me and like it's in prison. I don't really know what the hell a Screamroom is however. It sounds like something from the Jeff the Killer PC game (which I only watched 5 minutes of YouTube gameplay on it because I get frightened easily). Overall the drop was amazing and I loved the vocals.

Honorable mentions are Hate Everything and Cry.

Well, I just spent nearly 2 hours writing this up. And while I am sad I could only cover 3 artists in that long amount of time I do feel accomplished I stated some of my favorites. Maybe the few of you who look at this can post your favorites in the comments. I'm interested to hear. F-777, Xtrullor, and Rukkus aren't the only ones I listen to. So part to will feature some of my other favorites.

Until then,

~Alpha
