BlueAlpha14's News

Posted by BlueAlpha14 - July 4th, 2016

For some reason this year I don't have much going on. Yesterday I was at a baseball gane with fireworks, but today might be nothing.

Look at my audio tab for a quick sec would ya? Notice anything different? Like how .:Rattlesnake:. is my best of 2016 instead of Orbital 8? Yep, I removed some audio. I removed audio that either didn't fit the genre correctly, had no drums, had only drums and no synths, or too many people hated the audio.

In other news I'm also cancelling my project. It's too much of a hassle and it keeps corrupting and glitching blah blah blah so this track will be submitted for the NGUAC because there's no dying way I can make/finish something in 4 days without it being something terribly rushed and bad.

EDIT: If I CAN finish my [omitted]-inspired track before the 8th I'll submit that instead, but I am not going to rush it and make it sound bad either. I did learn a thing or two in my cancelled project that I want to demonstrate in this track. And MAYBE if I get the courage I'll attempt mastering, not like anyone is reading this anyways lol.

So, that's it I guess. Go enjoy independence ppl.

So just like 20 seconds ago I said FL Studio 12 wasn't working because the project I've been working on wasn't loading and the whole software keeps bugging out.

But when I went to load another project, it loaded just fine.

That means the project file I've been working on is corrupted.

I was actually super happy with the progress I have made. Now the file won't load and I have to start ALL OVER.

The only thing I can hope for is that I can get it to stay up long enough to screenshot the notes and drum patterns I used and start from scratch.

This in fact always seems to happen when I use Nightlife, an outside VST. I guess if I can screenshot everything I'll be saving the Nightlife parts as a .wav file and just be constructing it in the project file to prevent this from happening again.

So why use Nightlife if it isn't working..?

Because I can't recreate the lead on another VST. Plus, it really fits well with the transition I started on. And I'm NOT remaking the transition without abandoning the track entirely.

I can remember some of how I created the track, especially since I screenshotted the flp on a previous post. Absolutely worst case I can work on my other track, but still doesn't change the fact I improved on that one a lot more than my previous tracks.

Sorry for the rant, just needed to get it out how mad I am for a second.

I still hope to get something before the NGUAC is over. A week should be plenty of time, even if it's just a 1 minute loop.

Hey guys Alpha here and I've been working on a new track. Been confident about this one. Currently I have no idea what this genre specifies as. It's 133 BPM, so it's close to techno maybe but it doesn't have much of a techno feel. Perhaps I'll just label this as experimental. I MIGHT use this for the NGUAC if I think it's better than any of my other tracks I've made, which I hope this is.

This is just the lead. Not even the "drop" or the "transition". I actually had a good idea for the transition but it makes the audio really glitchy and slows down the tempo for some odd reason so now I'm back to the drawing board.

Currently I have some unnecessary automation. Such as I have 2 pitch envelopes when apparently you can't edit the pitch on a .wav file (the .wav files are Serum presets since I'm limited to the demo as said) and the X/Y modulation envelopes don't change the sound that much. At least the volume modulation does something.

I'm happy to release this track soon as I can. I decided to try making the full track THEN work around the rough edges. After this track I have the inspired track I want to finish and MAYBE do something for the AIM contest. I lack a lot of motivation so I would either not get it done fast enough, cancel the idea, or finish it but fail to reach the 3 minute minimum without making it extremely repetitive.

In the meantime I encourage you to look at some of my stuff and leave reviews.

So I normally leave 0 star reviews on copyrighted content in the audio portal because I like to check back to see if it ever got removed.

But today I got a notification that I was mentioned in a review of a copyrighted song. Basically their review was calling me out on how pointless my review was when they were making a pointless review themselves just to tell me how pointless my review was.

Ok then.

Also, gonna try to work on something. Want to get back to working on stuff daily again.

Ayy I'm posting this at 11:00 PM PST.

So I've had this track in mind for a while and I've been working on it, mentioned it several times, bleh. And while I wanted to stay up and work on it I ended up having a creative block. I'm not sure I like the way the melody sounds and I have no idea what the final product will be so Mr. Motivation Killer came up to me and said "You know what screw this man, just work on something else."

SO I OPened up a new project file, set the tempo to 150 BPM, created a nice drum beat and then it evolved to this:

I know it sounds very obnoxious that was the point because I couldn't work on anything and I wanted to feel creative.

I actually used some presets I made myself, I'm evolving people.

Hey everybody, I've been sick again. It's both an allergy cold and a stress cold, yay.

Regarding my not feeling well and not being home all that often, I had wanted to release a track specifically for today to celebrate something. However it's not even quarter of the way done, because I've had no motivation and time.

On this day last year I had bought the game Geometry Dash. Assuming you've probably heard of the game at least once, this is where I first heard digitally composed music outside of OST. I used to hate music, I could do just fine in silence. After playing Geometry Dash I started to like electronic music, and here I am today with 303 songs of it on my phone.

Now I know the audio portal doesn't like Geometry Dash users, mainly becuase some of them upload copyrighted songs like ones from MDK, Virtual Riot, F-777, etc. I even saw someone upload TheFatRat - Windfall on here, and TheFatRat has a NG..

Believe me, I don't like it when people upload copyrighted stuff either. However, Geometry Dash is the reason I started liking instrumental and eventually the reason why I got a NG and started making tracks of my own. I wanted to commemorate by making a track inspired off of one of the featuring composers in the RobTop levels. There's 7 so far not counting MDK for 2.1. When I release it, I hope the audio portal will like it. I'm probably not going to be heavily active (at least not on music, I'll still be here to respond to comments, pm's, etc.) until July. In the meantime, here's a screenshot of my progress:

Hopefully I can get it done as soon as I can!

Hey everyone, I'm actually feeling motivated lately. After making To the Sky I finally figured out why I couldn't make anything good

I suck at dubstep and should probably start making another genre I'm not totally obsessed with lol.

So my next track is going to be inspired off of one of the artists who I listened to when I started taking an interest to electronic music. So I wanted to make a track similar to his style, but not too much. So it made me realize instead of relaxing and listening to the tracks, I need to actually study the tracks to get some ideas.

That's right ppl, Seven Crappy Hours of Our Lives will haunt you fortheever.

Overused joke I know.

I swear I use this thing like a journal sometimes lol.

The one thing I try to think of on my career of being a digital musician is my name. When I first started NG, I wanted a unique username since you can only change it via supporter status. BlueAlpha14 came to mind because I'm 14, like the color blue, and I don't know where the hell Alpha came from. Still, my name at the moment only seems like a placeholder. What would it be like seeing a name like 'BlueAlpha14' on Monstercat, or MrSuicideSheep, or Galaxy Music, or AirwaveMusicTV, etc. It just doesn't seem like a name I would use if and when I ever get really professional. However, I don't think it would be too much to later on change my name and still have BlueAlpha14. I can think of a few artists with multiple alias. 23 and Escher Beats are the same person for example. It's really just a thought. For now, while I'm still a noob you can look forward to seeing BlueAlpha14 on tracks :D

Here's another screenshot of my upcoming track Rattlesnake:

5655099_146501188871_Screenshot60.png

Currently it has 24 patterns, way more than any of my previous stuff. I've actually been trying to take my time and be patient. However I need to remake the drop. Currenthly this is 1/2 maybe 2/3 of the entire track. I don't want to push myself with long tracks as knowing myself it would get very repetitive.

I've been pouring a lot of soul on this. I hope NG will like this.
